Several years ago, I saw a couple bring their own bottle of wine and the server opened it for them. I believe I heard someone say they only charge a $10 uncorking fee if you bring your own bottle. Is this true, and do they still do it??
Taberna is a great place that reminds us of authentic Spanish food!! We went to Valencia and Barcelona and the food at Taberna reminded us of it.. Server took care of us and chatted and the atmosphere was authentic. Food was delicioous! And the lunch menu was very affordable.. we will be back for some more Paella and snack pintxos.
MoreThe food is really good here, I forgot to take pictures. They have vegan options and items they can veganize. The red sangria was delicious. They are small plates so be prepared to get several different things and expect to spend at least $40 per person.
MoreLove the food and atmosphere. Our bartender Daniel was great!
Extremely well prepared Tapas with a great wait staff and nice selection of predominantly Spanish wines. Great for a group that you want to have an interactive dining experience as you converse and enjoy multiple rounds of food and drink. I definitely recommend the group Paella, they do a good job with it. Don't be afraid to explore various wines, the Spanish wines may not be as familiar by name, but can be a beautiful accent to the food.
MoreWe shared our 1st date here. Great atmosphere and great food, tables had candles on them, when they found out it was our 1st date, they made it special for us. A Million Thumbs Up...Thank you Taberna....
MoreDelicious food, great cocktails and wine selection.
Excellent selections and food. Enjoyed a great meal
Good food but an odd menu, basically duplicated the sliders and one piece of bread lists instead of combining to take up more room on the menu. The meatball appetizer was ridiculously small for the price but the 3 sliders for $10 was a lot of food and a good price imo. I would definitely go back again sometime.
MoreEvery single thing we ordered was absolutely perfect!!
Nice, clean, comfy place, good selection of wines great tapas great service!! Highly recommended
MoreDon’t waste your money...I just left there after ordering the Spicy lamb sausage which it was four pieces the size of my thumb run me about $12 for that alone ..and that’s it, plus they didn’t taste good at all and my friend how wanted to order but change the side from potato 🥔 to salad, the manager said no we don’t change our dishes , so the menus are more important than the customer..
MoreHave loved this place for years. And if you have not been back they have more than doubled their size taking over the space next door. Love their small plates. They have a wide variety of tasty lamb and other dishes that are always perfect. And for your vegetarian friends, a great place to go.
MoreGreat ambiance for small groups to do shared apps.I've been here twice and sampled at least half of the menu with my group and haven't been disappointed in a single dish. The staff are very friendly as well and seem to have mastered the art of being distant enough not to interfere with great conversation, but also present enough that nobody's wine glass stayed empty unless they wanted it to.
MorePretty good food. Not amazing for the prices. Good customer service and atmosphere
MoreSuper Friendly staff & management!! The food was delicious & came out quickly & hot! Drinks were made well & strong, I will be back for sure!!
MoreVery good food. Restaurant has never been crowded when I have been there for lunch. Service is quick and friendly.
MoreOutstanding tapas and cocktails. The octopus was spectacular.
Tapas are just the best was to enjoy food with family/friends. The dishes here are tremendous and the service was great. I highly recommend it.
MoreThere are so many places in the area that do a better job with tapas, but it's good quality food.
MoreThe food was great. Service was spot on. Real good lunch.
Do NOT go hungry.....honestly don't go at all!!! I would never recommend this place or go back. The prices are insane and the portions are incredibly small. My friend ordered beef ...no joke it was like 3 tablespoons and cost over $13. I ordered a rice and vegetables dish ...again the size of a very small salad plate ....$16...the rice was hard -I couldn't eat it.....and I could only see one vegetable. Very very very disappointed in my time and money wasted at Taberna Tapas....I hope the owners take note that there were 2 entire tables of patrons that said they would never come back and are now out in the community spreading the word of their negative experience.
MoreThis restaurant has a nice quiet atmosphere and an interesting upscale menu with lots of creative dishes. I look forward to exploring its many options. I thought the portions were quite small but enjoyed the price/portion value of the paella dishes. Great flavors, courteous wait staff, wonderful ambience, I would definitely go again.
MoreSo far the most authentic Spanish food I've had in the triangle. Try the patatas bravas, seafood. Also try coming at dinner time for pulpo a la gallega, and sometimes even a paella for two.
MoreEvert Tapa I've ever eaten there has been exquisite. Even though it's supposed to be an appetizer, so delicious wish it was an entree and want to order as many as possible to go.the best restaurant in downtown Durham.
MoreBest Spanish food (Spain) in the area. Try their Paella Tres Mares and their Chocolate Moose. You won’t regret it. 😛
MoreThe food is fantastic and the atmosphere is fun for a group of 2 or 10. I always treat my out of town colleagues to dinner here. It's become a must have for them now!
MoreAwful experience all around! The hostess was on crutches, it was our servers third night and was given a table of 8! They were out of so many drinks! The portions are very small for what you are paying for! After waiting forever for our food and drinks we were given one check and told to figure out how to split it ourselves...after we received our check and were late to the event we had tickets to we finally receive two of our dishes and the waitress took the lords name in vain when we told her we didn’t want to pay for them...the manager was not helpful at all! He tried to split our check for us and after about twenty minutes brings it to us and tells us he gave us a discount...my check was more than what I had ordered and everyone else’s checks we’re screwed up also! Do not recommend this restaurant at all!
MoreWhat a great surprise. We stopped in during a road trip to South Carolina. The food is top notch and creative, the staff is excellent. I thought we were in NYC eating at a highly recommended restaurant. Yes, it was that pleasant and tastefull.
MoreIntimate atmosphere, tasty tapas. Attentive, professional staff. Pat is a wizard behind the bar. This place never disappoints. Thanks guys! See you next time
MoreFood was pretty good. Extensive menu. Service was real bad
Was served raw salmon 😑 then came back overcooked. The rest of the food was ok... The wine and service was the only best part. I prefer Mateo's for delicious tapas.
MoreExcellent service. The tapas most of them were good. The mussels needed litle more medierranean flavor and also salt.Paella gor 6 all the seafood in the plate was excellent taste, i woukd prefer the rice needed little more flavor and color.
MoreTried here for the first time, and this is delicious Tapas!!!Located in mid town Durham, came here with my family. The staff are friendly here :-) I would like to come back here taking my colleagues here :-)
MoreFood was amazing! Great service
We always love it here. Food is great and interesting. Drinks are good. A little pricey...but the quality is on point.
MorePaella was tastesless and serving portion was small even for one person...understaffed and service was slow...would go back only for drinks and nothing else
MoreThe staff were friendly and engaging and it has a nice, intimate atmosphere with subtle background music. The wine list, while short, has some really tasty choices. I had the paella tres mares. While overall very good, the clams were some of the chewiest I've encountered. Lots of great dessert options so try to save room.
MoreNot cheap, but the best night out with good friends. Everything we tried was excellent. Nice to share small plates of good food. Excellent wait staff, best service I've had anywhere.
MoreI love the food at Taberna. The drinks are excellent, the staff is great and the restaurant is nicely set up. Also like that they're open for lunch in addition to dinner.
MoreGreat service, considerate staff, good food, good wine suggestions.
Delicious tapas, nice location and atmosphere. The chimichurri steak was amazing.
MoreI thought the Brussels sprouts were amazing, the plum tomato salad was pretty good and the paela was OK. Prices were higher than I like to spend for a casual dinner out, especially considering tapas portions are smaller and you need to order a few.
MoreGreat spot for a girl's night out or a date night. Tasty tappas and a nice drink selection. Wouldn't recommend taking kids. Parking is either on the street or in a garage, but not too bad.
MoreMaybe I'm just out on the whole tapas concept - I'm sick of my fiance and I spending $60 to go out to eat and still leaving hungry. The skirt steak and churros were delicious, but one dish cost $12 for 4 shrimp on top of some onions. Someone else at my table ordered paella and it just never came. After 25 minutes we gave up and canceled it. I don't think I'll be returning.
MoreAwesome food and great service
Had lunch here. Awesome experience at Taberna! Wait staff was super nice, they keep our water replenished, answered questions happily, and made sure we were well take care of. The food was deliciously delicious. We had the bacon wrapped dates (OMG!!OMG!!), spicy garlic wings, Brussels sprouts (💥), and patatas aioli (👍). Definitely a spot I want to make a regular spot, their menu is large and the prices are wonderful. Great quality, great food, and great prices!
MoreSo good! Everything was fantastic ans the wait staff was really good. The dark chocolate mousse was great, the churros were life changing.
MoreBeen a couple times and each time I think to myself, “I should’ve went to Mateo”. It’s just okay. Cool atmosphere, music, and folks that work there are very pleasant. So why three stars? Food is just passable...not that great for what you’d expect.
MoreGreat tapas! We tried a bunch of different tapas, all were excellent. Serve was outstanding@
